LINZ, Austria, 5 September 2019 – After the successful launch of their very first cat-specific GPS tracker CAT during CES at the beginning of the year, Tractive, the world market leader in GPS tracking for dogs and cats now debuts the next generation tracker for felines at this year’s IFA in Berlin, Germany. The design of the Tractive IKATI incorporates findings from the field as well as direct feedback from several 10,000 of customers. The result is an innovative device that meets the customers’ requirements even better.

Features of the Tractive IKATI

  • The new IKATI GPS tracker has an adaptable clip and fastening system, which offers more flexibility than the original breakaway safety collar. Cat owners can simply use their already existing collar – the new tracker can be securely fixed to virtually any cat collar independent of its size or width.
  • With under 30 g the IKATI is extremely lightweight and thus suitable for cats from 4 kg upwards.
  • Dependent on use and network coverage, the battery lasts 2-5 days. Users can ensure a continuous use with a second battery. Thanks to the 100 percent waterproof casing, it is safe enough even for an occasional bath.
  • The IKATI uses the latest GPS tracking technology and in Live mode delivers real-time updates every 2-3 seconds ⎼ regardless of whether the animal is in sight of the owner or many kilometres away in a different city.

Tractive GPS App allows LIVE tracking

The new IKATI tracker is of course also compatible with the free Tractive GPS App. With the help of the App, pet owners can keep an eye on their furry friends ⎼ at all times and everywhere. LIVE tracking delivers information on the real-time location of the cat, which is crucial when a cat has lost its way. Via the location history, the collected data can provide insights about the distances covered and locations visited by the cat within a certain time period. Heatmaps can be created from these results that visualise through colours where an animal is most frequently. They thus deliver useful information on highly frequented locations of the animal, which in turn can help identify where an animal finds food or has friends in the neighbourhood. Users of the app can also install a virtual fence. Should a cat venture past this border, a notification will be sent immediately to the owner’s smartphone.

Fitness tracker for pets

Similar to fitness trackers for humans, the activity monitor delivers detailed statistics and evaluations that give cat owners insights on how much their pet sleeps or moves about. Owners can thus easily assess their animal’s current state of health. Over the course of a day, week or month, the user interface visualises in different colours the resting periods, normal and particularly dynamic activity phases. All the while the pet collects so-called Pet Points, which derive from the percentage share of the three activity modes. Owners can evaluate the collected points either just for their own pet, in comparison to their friends’ animals or compared to other cats worldwide on the public Leaderboard.

Sharing option for family and friends

With the sharing option, family and friends can be invited at the click of a button to also access the pet’s activity profile, location history and live location. Should a cat not find its way home, owner’s can quickly add several other persons to join the search. Petsitters equally benefit from the possibility of being tied into the pet’s daily routine. Although cats can sleep anywhere between 15-20 hours per day, they do like to go out on the prowl especially at dusk or dawn. Particularly, stalking and hunting prey are solitary activities which means that our velvet-pawed companions are naturally independent creatures that rarely let themselves be exercised outdoors on a leash. With the Tractive IKATI, cat owners can keep tabs on their tabbies at all times. The GPS cat and dog trackers from Tractive offer pet owners peace of mind when their furry friend is out of sight. The tracker prices start from € 49.99 / £ 44.99, whilst the subscription fee for the service starts from € 3.75 / £ 3.33 per month. The Tractive GPS apps are available for iOS and Android. Users can also use the Tractive GPS webapp on my.tractive.com to locate their pet.
