Tractive Introduces 4-Day Work Week For Everyone
Pet tech industry leader behind world's most trusted GPS tracker for cats and dogs reduces working hours to increase motivation and productivity - and shape the future of work.
Seattle, WA / Pasching, June 2022. Four days, full salary. With immediate effect, Tractive is reducing working hours for all full-time employees to 35 hours per week without salary cuts. From now on, employees will only work 4 days instead of 5.
More time for family and private life
What seems like distant future to many employees is now a reality at Tractive. The pet tech leader has introduced a 4-day work week with 3 day weekends, all while keeping the same salary and benefits. Founder and CEO Michael Hurnaus fully supports this project and said: “We have thought about this step carefully. Long work weeks lead to mental exhaustion and health complaints for many people. With the 4-day week, we want to prevent these complaints, avoid burnout and make our employees healthier and happier.” The extended weekend leaves more time for family, children, sports and other hobbies. In other words: less stress, more quality of life.
Increased motivation and productivity
“In the end, the idea for the 4-day work week came from the employees themselves,” explained Marlene Kampelmüller, Head of Human Resources at Tractive. “In our recent employee surveys and feedback discussions, many employees expressed their wish to have more time off. We are convinced that a hybrid work model and more time for family, friends and hobbies also lead to more motivation and productivity. In the end, it’s a benefit for everyone involved.” The shortened work schedule is not the only benefit for Tractive employees in the coming weeks. In July, the company, which currently has around 170 employees, will move into the brand-new Tractive campus with adjacent forest. The new office will provide enough space for 250 employees near the company’s current headquarters in Austria. In the United States, Tractive offers a hybrid work culture between days working from home (or the beach!) and an office with views of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier.
Pioneer as an innovative employer
Tractive COO Wolfgang Reisinger is also convinced that the change in the working time model is the right way to go: “The Covid-19 pandemic has shown what is really important – our health. Our team is doing a great job and the 4-day week provides the necessary flexibility and work-life balance to stay healthy and focused in the long term.” By opting for a modern working time model and environment, Tractive emphasizes its commitment to being an innovative employer that focuses on the health and well-being of its employees. It is no coincidence that the company has repeatedly been voted among the best employers and most family-friendly companies in Austria.
Growing team with over 40 vacancies
Many life realities, one team. Tractive relies on a strong corporate culture focused on flexible and hybrid working. With a balanced mix of in-office and home office, a new HQ with space for pets and the step towards a 4-day week, the company aims to create a modern and future-oriented working environment where employees still feel part of the company and share a common goal. For the growing team of more than 35 different nationalities, the company is still looking for around 40 new team members in Austria and US – ideal for those who want to make life safer, happier and healthier for cats and dogs.
