Since Pokemon Go was released, consumers have gotten a lot more familiar with the “Augmented Reality” feature for apps. We, at Tractive, love this feature and we have now found a whole new way to find your dog in the woods.

A few weeks ago, we launched the new Tractive Augmented Reality Premium feature. Interested? Here’s a little update and some information about the new feature:

How to activate the Augmented Reality feature

The activation process is quite simple. First, you need to activate the Premium feature in the map settings. In order to open the map settings, just click the “i” button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Activate Augmented Reality Step 1

Once you’ve moved the slider to the right the Augmented Reality icon will appear on the map; just waiting to be used!

Activate Augmented Reality Step 2

How to use the Augmented Reality feature

After pressing the AR “Start” button on the lower right of your screen the map will disappear and the camera view is activated.
AR View

Now you’re able to move with your smartphone. With a view through your camera it is possible to look at everything in your surroundings from every angle.
To see where your dog or cat is heading you’ll see a pin as an overlay with the approximate distance you need to cover to reach your pet.

We hope you’ll like the new AR feature as much as we do.

Since we always try our best to improve our products and apps, we would be pleased if you could give us some feedback on the new Augmented Reality feature. All you have to do is try out the Augmented Reality view and fill out the short form attached to the blog post. Your review will be greatly appreciated!

This should be in the manual as well as all the other tips and info, it;s taken me 20 minutes of randomly searching to find this, to find out how long live tracking switches on for, and other important info. Essential info is scatered all over between your manual, and different places on this site

I see you have to upgrade to premium for this app, but is their anyway of trialing it before upgrading as I bought the Tractive for its LIVE tracking but was very disappointed to find it turned off after 10 mins use and this cannot be overridden and it usually won’t re-connect straight away depending on where we are.
I find the walk app doesn’t update enough and my dog is usually in a completely different place than it says on the app so I don’t want to waste money upgrading for an app which will still be out of sink with my dog.

      Hi Jo,

The Live Mode is automatically disabled after 15 minutes to conserve battery life and to ensure that the battery won’t be drained if you forget to disable it manually.

The AR View Mode is currently only available for Premium customers that’s right. There’s unfortunately no option to try it out with a Basic Service Plan right now.

          Hi Jo Ellis,

the screenshots and pictures were taken from our iOS App “Tractive GPS”.
You’ll find the same feature and settings in the Android app as well.

At the bottom of the blog post you can find the links to the GPS Apps in the iOS and Google Play App Store 😉

          All the best,
