In support of this vision, we created the Tractive Shelter Project to provide animal welfare organizations with more opportunities to keep foster and rescue pets safe and secure in their new homes for 24/7 peace of mind.

After signing up, registered animal welfare organizations can order Tractive Smart Trackers for free (usually $70 each). Organizations will only be responsible for activating trackers with a low-cost subscription, as Tractive devices have SIM cards, using this data plan to connect with cellular networks for real-time GPS tracking.

How does Tractive Shelter Project work?

To get started, simply apply, and once we verify your organization, you can take advantage of the benefits of being a Shelter Partner – whether that means trackers for an event, free device vouchers for your adopters, or a special discount for you. Sign up today!

Who should I contact for shelter-related inquiries?

Is there a limit to the number of times we can transfer a subscription?

Subscriptions registered to Shelter-approved Tractive accounts can always be transferred out to other accounts, but subscriptions registered to non-Shelter accounts will need to go through Customer Support to request a subscription transfer.

Who is eligible for Tractive Shelter Project?

Any registered organization – whether pet shelter, pet charity or non-profit organization – that helps furry friends live safer, happier lives. You might have vulnerable animals in your care, or be training young pups to not run away. Regardless, we’re here to help you get peace of mind with real-time GPS tracking, and pass it on to pet parents who need it too.

Does the subscription start the moment we pay?

The subscriptions start the moment you pay (an extra week is automatically added to subscriptions to account for shipping time). So if you have trackers for 2 months before you send them out to fosters, the fosters would have 10 months left on their subscription.

Is there a limit of how many devices we can order? Or how many at a time? Or how many total orders we can make? How about multiple colors on the same order?

For a single order, you can order up to 50 at a time. There is no limit to how many total orders you can make.
You can only order one tracker type/color per order, so if you need multiple types, please submit separate orders.

How can the subscription be transferred back to us if the adopter returns the pet?

In this case, since their account is not a Shelter accout, they won’t be able to transfer it back without help from Support. Please submit a ticket to our Customer Experience team here to have the subscription transferred back to your account. Make sure to include the tracker ID, the email of the adopter’s account, and the email of your org’s account.

The foster/adopter accidentally purchased a new subscription plan instead of transferring over the existing one, what should we do?

In this case, please submit a ticket to our Customer Experience team here to have the adopter refunded and the original subscription reactivated. Make sure to include the tracker ID, the email of the adopter’s account, and the email of your org’s account. To avoid this in the future when transferring a subscription, please follow the steps in the Shelter Subscription Transfer Instructions.

Are you able to drop-ship to adopters / fosters? Or do they all get shipped to me, and then I forward them on?

While you can technically send trackers anywhere you would like, the adopter would still need to transfer the subscription to their own account after receiving the device. As an alternative, Tractive has exclusive codes reserved for our partner orgs’ adopters which get them the free tracker with activation purchase – a great way to keep pets safe and offer added value to potential adopters.

Who is responsible for payment after the transferring of a subscription? Us or the adopter?

If the subscription was self-transferred (initiated from your end), the adopter will be prompted to enter a payment method immediately which will be charged upon renewal.
If the subscription was performed manually by us, the adopter would be prompted to enter a payment method upon the renewal date to continue their subscription.

Once we transfer the subscription to a foster or adopter, will we still be able to track the pet?

You will be able to continue tracking only if the foster/adopter shares tracking via Tractive’s Family Sharing feature, which requires a Premium subscription. Multiple users/devices can also log into the same Tractive account without issue, but note that other users could access payment information, etc.

If we want the tracker on hand, but don’t want to activate it yet, what are our options? Can we pause an existing subscription?

In your Tractive account, you can pause your subscription on two separate occasions per year, for a maximum of eight months out of the year. This is the best course of action for those that would like to have ready-to-use trackers on hand.
