What our users say about Tractive

A Husky with Tractive GPS Dog Tracker

Nathalie M.

Naya and I travel a lot together. Being a Husky, she has a very high prey drive... I once lost her in a forest, one of the scariest moments in my life! That was the moment I decided to get a tracker. I've never lost her anymore! On top of that, I can track her activity which is a really cool thing to do. Tractive app is addictive!

A Basenji Dog with Tractive GPS Dog Tracker

Annita M.

We love Tractive! Especially when going to the beach or to the woods. Our girl loves to explore, and LIVE Mode is very valuable, as we get to follow her running. Also fun to see her top speed. So far her max speed is 32km/h - fast as a car!

A Cat with the Tractive GPS Cat Tracker

Andrew

Had the Tractive CAT Mini since February, and it's been excellent. Size is smaller, charging is a lot easier, but most importantly, it looks very comfortable for my cat 🐱

A Dog with the Tractive GPS Dog Tracker

Lena F.

When we rescued Marla 2 years ago, she was a very shy, scared dog. But after settling in, she started to love walking, adventuring and exploring. We love having Tractive for peace of mind. We know that if she gets lost or wanders too far, we can find her.

@lordaddereminus

The CAT Mini is very lightweight and does not bother Minus at all. He doesn't even know it’s there! I don’t need to worry if Minus runs away, because I know where he is at all times... plus I get to look back at our walks and see how active he's been!

A Cat with the Tractive GPS Cat Tracker

@royalcatsbremen

Thrilled that we can follow Nasib live with our CAT Mini, and even see how long he stays in certain spots. We were also shocked to find out how far he walks in a day! We've only been using the tracker a few days, but I'm sure we'll soon have plenty of great adventures with it.

@maltipootoy.mia with Tractive GPS for Dogs

@maltipootoy.mia

One year we are using Tractive GPS Tracker. It’s very easy to use! Mia doesn’t walk without a leash within the city, but we often go hiking, and it’s a very useful thing! Mia weighs 4.5 kg and the small size of the tracker fits her. You can control not only the location of your per but also monitor their sleeping. Battery charge lasts a long time. We recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions

Tractive is the leading GPS pet tracker, trusted by over 1 million pet parents worldwide. The small, lightweight tracker fits comfortably on your dog or cat's collar. It tracks their movements using GPS and other technologies. In the companion app, Tractive tells you where your pet is and where they've been. It comes with a built-in GPS fence and many other pet-friendly features. With Activity and Sleep Tracking, it's also an all-in-one pet wellness monitor.

Virtual fences use GPS coordinates and maps to create a fence—in the digital world—around an area. They're used to track or contain animals, like livestock or pets. Virtual fences are a great resource for pet parents who could use a bit of help making sure their pet stays put.

The Tractive Virtual Fence works using the simple app and tracker. Attach the tracker to your pet's collar and open the Tractive GPS app. Place a Virtual Fence over the desired area on the map—for example, around your backyard. Make sure the tracker is turned on and that you have an active internet connection. It's that easy! You'll receive an alert anytime your pet crosses the fence boundary.

A Virtual Fence allows you to keep track of where your dog or cat is at all times, and keep them safe. If your dog's in the backyard, you can open the app and check on them. If for any reason they leave the "safe area" you'll be alerted automatically. With Tractive, you can use LIVE Tracking to find them immediately. Physical fences don't alert you if your pet escapes. The Tractive Virtual Fence helps you keep track of your furry family member and keep them safe. It helps you prevent them from ever coming into harm's way.

Geofencing for dogs is just another word for a GPS dog fence. This kind of system allows you to place pins on a map or satellite image of the property, creating a fence. Unlike physical or buried wire fences, geofences are entirely virtual.

For a Virtual Fence to be effective, it needs to be at least a certain size. For circle fences, it must be at least 50 meters in radius. For rectangular fences, 100 x 100 meters is the smallest possible size. For custom shaped fences, there's no minimum size. However you may be asked to increase the size of the fence to improve the accuracy of Virtual Fence notifications.

Setting up a Virtual Fence with Tractive couldn't be easier! Simply open the Tractive GPS app and navigate to Virtual Fence. Tap to add a Fence. Choose the name, shape, icon and type of Virtual Fence you want to create. Drag and move it to the desired location on the map and press Save. With that, your Virtual Fence is active!

Yes! The Tractive GPS Dog Tracker makes the perfect customizable GPS dog fence. You can set up your fence in a circle, rectangle or draw your own custom shape. No matter what your space looks like, you can create a Tractive GPS Virtual Fence to fit it.

Some pet parents consider investing in an invisible fence for dogs, otherwise known as an electric dog fence. Setting up an electric fence involves burying a wire underground. Anytime your pet crosses the fence, they receive a small electric shock. There are many pros and cons of invisible fences for dogs. Invisible fences are considered by some to be unethical, due to the negative effects they can have on dogs.

A traditional invisible fence for dogs usually requires professional installation. The average cost of getting a wireless or invisible dog fence installed is $1200.

There are many differences between a virtual dog fence and an invisible dog fence. The Tractive Virtual Fence is 100% shock-free and safe for pets. Invisible fences use electric shock to contain a dog in an area. While Tractive doesn't contain your dog in a space in the same way, it alerts you as soon as your pet crosses the boundary. It also lets you track your pet's location in real time. Tractive Virtual Fences can be set up in under 5 minutes. The cost is only the GPS tracker (approximately $50) plus a low monthly subscription fee. Invisible fences are more expensive (over $1,000) and need to be physically installed.
