Pets are adept at hiding pain and illness. When our pets are in pain, the signs they show tend to be very subtle and more behavior-related. Changes in their sleep, activity, or vital signs often show up before other more severe signs. With Tractive, being able to track these health indicators can help you spot irregularities sooner and intervene in time.
Your pet's tracker is a powerful device. With a built-in accelerometer, it can detect when your pet is moving or sleeping. For dogs, it can track barking as well as resting heart and respiratory rate. To get this data, your pet must regularly wear their tracker, including overnight, for at least one week. In just 7 days, your pet's tracker can establish a baseline for their health and unlock insights related to their daily behavior and health.
Your dog's tracker establishes their baseline resting heart and respiratory rate after 7 days of consistent use. After this, we monitor your dog’s daily average vitals and compare them to the baseline so you can check the app and see if it’s within its normal range, lower, or elevated. If there are persistent abnormalities over several days, you'll receive a Health Alert.
In order to get Health Alerts for activity, your cat or dog must wear their tracker for at least 12 hours a day for 6 weeks. For dogs, they can also get Sleep Health Alerts by wearing their tracker overnight for 6 weeks. Health Alerts for vital signs (heart and respiratory rate) are activated after your dog has worn their tracker for a week and established a baseline. More on this below.
