Tractive is the most trusted name for keeping cats and dogs safe and healthy. The secret to our success? A team of truly unique individuals who care about each other just as much as going the extra mile for pet parents. Want to be part of our story? Check out this role and see if you’re a good match!
Your territory
As part of our Firmware team, you will:
Build the firmware that helps people find their pets and understand their health - anywhere in the world
Develop and improve the core GNSS positioning system behind our trackers, making sure a dog that slips its leash in a city park or a cat wandering through rural fields can still be found reliably
Focus on getting the most out of GNSS (GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, and more): improving accuracy, reducing power consumption, and making positioning robust in real-world conditions like dense cities, forests, and low-signal environments
Work hands-on with GNSS chipsets and positioning protocols, and combine satellite data with sensor inputs to make tracking more reliable, especially when signals are weak or noisy
When things don’t behave as expected (and they won’t), dig into device logs and real-world tracking data to understand edge cases and turn them into measurable improvements
Own positioning features end-to-end - from idea and implementation to deployment on devices out in the wild
Collaborate closely with Architecture, Backend, QA, and Support, while still having the freedom to drive your own topics and ideas forward
Bring in your fresh ideas to make Tractive better - you’ll never hear the phrase “...because that’s how we’ve always done things”
Continuously grow personally and professionally, take ownership of areas that show your potential, and attend workshops which help you get to the next level
Your profile
Key requirements:
4+ years of embedded firmware experience with C/C++ on microcontrollers
Hands-on experience with GNSS systems, including working with GNSS chipsets and positioning protocols, or a strong background in positioning from areas like automotive navigation, drones or wearables
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, organized way of working
Clear technical communication and comfortable collaborating in cross-functional teams
Very good English skills
Does this sound like you?
You love hardware, embedded systems, and satellite positioning technology
You’re analytical, hands-on, and a self-starter
You enjoy taking full ownership of complex projects
You’re motivated by learning, innovation, and mentoring others
