Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer - R&D

Your territory

As part of our Firmware team, you will:

  • Lead exploratory R&D projects - from idea, feasibility and validation to functional prototypes

  • Develop and implement firmware in C/C++ to test and iterate on new product concepts

  • Experiment with edge AI, low-power IoT, GPS, Cellular, BLE and sensor technologies

  • Collaborate with Firmware, Hardware and Data Science teams to validate promising approaches

  • Support a team of professional Firmware developers in writing production-grade code when needed, especially during transition phases

  • Define clear success criteria, analyze data from lab and field tests and decide when to deepen or stop an approach

  • Own your topics with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility while keeping stakeholders aligned through clear communication

  • Bring in your fresh ideas to make Tractive better - you’ll never hear the phrase “...because that’s how we’ve always done things”

  • Continuously grow personally and professionally, take ownership of areas that show your potential, and attend workshops which help you get to the next level

Your profile

Key requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development with C/C++

  • Strong embedded systems engineering background, including microcontrollers, sensors and connectivity modules

  • Programming skills in Python (e.g. pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy) for data analysis and tooling

  • Proven experience bringing prototypes or features from R&D into production

  • Research competence in areas like AI on embedded devices, sensor fusion or similar advanced topics is a plus

  • Very good English skills
